My Crazy Ride At Cedar Point- Summer Internship That Changed Me

This summer was one that I will never forget. No, I did not go on a vacation or learn how to rock climb. I spent my whole summer at Cedar Point not as a guest, but it did feel like a roller coaster.

This summer I decided to take an internship with Cedar Point. As a kid I visited here many times, but I never truly realized how much goes on behind the scenes to keep that huge amusement park running smoothly.

When I first accepted the internship I was extremely nervous. For one, I took an internship with Park Services, this department is in charge of cleaning the park. I was skeptical about how much I was really going to enjoy taking out the trash all day. Second, I did not know a single person working at Cedar Point this summer.

Now that I am done with the internship I can tell you that there was nothing to worry about. Don't get me wrong, my internship wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, literally, but it was a summer I will never forget.

Here are the main three reasons working an internship with the Cedar Point Park Services department has made me a better person.

1. In public I will now and forever clean up after myself. I have had to clean up after people all summer. No, it was not a big deal to clean up after people but I have realized that just throwing a cup away when you're finished might make someones day just a little bit better. Especially someone that has been working all day to make that area looks nice.

2. I have learned more about different cultures. This summer I met some incredible people from all over the world. These people have taught me so much about their culture. Now, I truly do want to travel the world. These people are what made me want to come to work everyday. They were all so different, but one thing they all had in common was they were all so brave to come to a different country for the whole summer. I admire all of them and wish I would've had more time to get to know all them better.

3. I now have an improved work ethic and feel I can work more effectively with a team. Working at Cedar Point is fast-paced and you have to be on your toes at all times. My first day I was skeptical that I would be able to make it the whole summer at Cedar Point. With some experience, I was able to develop a plan that made the day less hectic. After that, I was able to truly supervise and see my plan come to fruition.

So, thank you Cedar Point for the summer that changed me for the better.
