Not Another Facebook Post
I am
reading the book "Social Media Marketing: Workbook 2018" by Jason
McDonald. The book has very long chapters, but I am actually enjoying it and
getting a lot from it. I am now on the third chapter. This chapter is all about
Facebook. I have talked about Facebook a couple times but how can I not?
Facebook is the biggest social media site in the world with more than 2 billion
active users. Not only do people have personal pages but many businesses have
pages as well.
In the book it talks about if you understand Facebook then you probably understand many social media sites like Instagram and Twitter. Also, the book states that "Facebook is fun!". If you don't like it or think it is fun, then why are you even on it? Let’s talk about what is fun about Facebook.
"Facebook is essentially a big scrapbook"- I have never thought of it like this but it absolutely is. Everyone posts pictures with little captions. Most of the time these pictures are of happy moments in their lives. Just like scrapbook, you are not going to post about the bad. The only difference is your scrapbook can't get likes. How many people actually scrapbook anymore? I only know a handful of people that have actually done it and can only think of one person that still does it today.
The Five F's: Friends, Family, Fun, Photos and Fake
Friends, fun, family- You post on Facebook and the people that see it are your friends and family. You are usually having fun in this post.
Photos- Photos are all over Facebook. You don't see many posts that just have words that don't have a picture to do with them.
Fake- This is what I already talked about up top when I said that people post the happy stuff. They won't post about that bad times. They try to keep the image that their lives are perfect.
