BID DAY- BEST DAY
The first week of September was a
very crazy week for everyone participating in Greek recruitment. Thursday,
Friday and Saturday was formal recruitment at Ohio Northern University. How, in
3 short days, do you determine where your perfect fit is? It's a hard decision
for each person who is trying to decide on that perfect fit. I once went
through the same difficult decision four short years ago.
The good news is that today all the stress went away because around 55 girls at Ohio Northern found their home in a sorority. My personal chapter, Delta Zeta,
welcomed home 15 new members. This was such an exciting time for my chapter. Not only did we gain new members, we also welcomed back five Rho Gammas, who gave up their Delta Zeta letters to help each and every girl find their unbiased
fit.
Unfortunately, this was my last recruitment as an active sister. I think I will miss so much of what recruitment is. I will miss the excitement of seeing the chapter flourish. I will also miss all the crazy late nights with my sisters but most of all, I will miss the feeling of accomplishment when we finally get to hear our new members names.
Although I am leaving I believe that the underclassmen are going to do a great job helping this chapter grow. Each one of them posses the true meaning of sisterhood. It is early in the year but these girls have truly made the start of my senior wonderful. I look forward to seeing how my younger sisters rock recruitment next year.
Am I glad this week is over? Yes.
Would I do it all over again if that meant getting these fantastic 15 women to join my sister hood? In a heart beat.
It is awesome to hear that you had such a great time with your sorority and that it is doing well too. I always kind of wondered what it would of been like if I would of joined a fraternity, but alas as a senior it is a little to late for me. I hope you have fun this year with your sorority sisters and all the rest of us Polar Bears!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that all your stress went away. It is so amazing that you are helping them to get comfortable of their new life. We do not have like a fraternity in Japan, so it is totally new thing to know about what the fraternity life looks like. I wish I had such a thing in Japan too because your relationships with your sisters looks so amazing and cute!
ReplyDeleteI participated in recruitment week and also bid day! I found my home at Alpha Xi Delta. I am very excited to meet and get to know all of my new sisters. I am glad that this week is over as well. It was fun and overwhelming all at the same time. I am glad that you got new sisters and your old ones back. I am sorry to hear this is your last recruitment season. Cherish every moment!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a successful recruitment! I was involved in Fraternity recruitment this semester for Theta Chi. The end of the season may be bittersweet, but that's all the more reason to enjoy the time while you have it.
