Blogging for a business!

The new book I am reading is called “Social Media Marketing: Workbook 2018” by Jason McDonald. I have just started the book but so far I have liked it. I am on the second chapter. This chapter has many good elements but what have interested me the most is the part about blogging. This is basically about how if any business is serious about their endeavors then they need to blog. So, I am going to go over some of the tips and tricks that the chapter gives us.

1. Emotions, Emotion, Emotion (and Some Utility)

McDonald means that you need to have emotional themes such as usefulness, shocking, provoking fear or outrage, or being funny. These themes will keep your audience engaged and interested.

2. Share Systematically on Schedule with Hootsuite

a. Identify the blog concept and relevant keywords- These is what people search and hopefully your blog post shows up.

b. Outline the content and write a rough draft- Every time you write a blog you should have a couple people read it. Then, you should go back in and change or add something and have them read it again.

c. Identify a provocative image- Find a picture that really pulls your blog together.

d. Write a catchy, keyword-heavy headline- This is something that people first read. This should make them want them to read your blog.

e. Finalize the content- Make sure your content is easy to read

f. Share the content- Share your Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. This will help people get to your other content.

3. Be a Helpful Expert

a. Identify your keyword themes- This is kind of what we do when we "label" our posts on here. Make sure people know the relevance of your posts.

b. Research your topic- Make sure you are well-versed in your topic before writing about it.

c. Summarize- You don't want a post to be super long so summarize what you want to say.

4. Interact with Others on Social Media

Respond to customers that comment of your Twitter and Facebook. If you interact with them they are most likely to keep coming back to your business.

Hopefully these tips can help with any future business plans!
